Pianist Amy Lin was born in Taiwan, where she began studying the piano at the age of five. In 1975 she emigrated to the United States with her family, settling in California, where she pursued her studies with June Lusk Nelson in Irvine. While earning an undergraduate degree in mathematics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, she continued her musical studies with Enrique Graf at the Peabody Institute. After graduation, she studied with Leon Fleisher and Leonard Shure at the Peabody Conservatory for the next ten years, receiving a Master's degree as well as the Artist Diploma. Subsequently she was awarded the Meisterklassendiplom from the Hochschule für Musik in Munich, where she worked with Margarita Höhenrieder and Gerhard Oppitz.

Amy Lin made her debut with the National Symphony Orchestra in 1981 as winner of the Young Soloists Competition, and has since appeared in recital and as soloist with orchestras in Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Latvia, Japan, and Taiwan, as well as in the United States. In 1996 she spent a five-month residency in Brazil as recipient of a Fulbright Senior Scholar Award. During that time, she was Visiting Professor at the University of Campinas in Sao Paulo State and performed extensively throughout the country.

Ms. Lin's repertoire is wide-ranging and diverse. She excels particularly in the music of the great Viennese tradition of Schubert, Beethoven, and Mozart. Recently she has been interested in the music of contemporary Chinese composers, many of whom have entrusted her with the performance of new works.

Currently Amy Lin resides in Strasbourg, France, where she is professor of piano at the Conservatoire National.
